Highland Roofing Company Named One of North Carolina’s Best Employers

Highland Roofing Company is one of just 54 North Carolina companies to be awarded one of the Best Employers by North Carolina Business Magazine.

Business North Carolina’s annual list of Best Employers highlights companies that rank highly in their efforts to motivate teammates and draw strong employees. The program recognizes the state’s best places to work with a unique awards program for small, medium and large companies that are taking steps to build positive, enduring cultures.

Highland Roofing Company earned top spots from employee responses to an independent survey covering essential workplace topics including organizational health, leadership, engagement, work-life balance, pay, training, benefits and corporate social responsibility.

“While we do our best to offer a competitive compensation package, it’s our culture that drives employee satisfaction,” said Human Resources Director Shari Leon. “Employees can always find a company that might pay a little more or offer a new benefit, but one’s day-to-day happiness with their job and co-workers is what’s most important.”

Highland Roofing Company prides itself on workforce diversity and equity where employees have a sense of purpose and can see how their work directly impacts the customer and know they’re an integral part in customer satisfaction. Unlike most construction firms that are typically male dominated, Highland’s management team is equally balanced with men and women and the company employs several females in both the office and in the field as roofing technicians. There’s also a strong mix of backgrounds across all levels of the organization.

As employees grow and evolve over time and their needs change, Highland does its best to accommodate people’s strengths and goals and provide more opportunity as the company grows. There are no jobs in boxes – everyone helps when and where they can.

The company recently launched a Master Technician Program to reward top skill level technicians with additional performance-based compensation for outstanding service, quality control, and work to train new technicians.
