Highland Roofing’s Pitt Community College Project Featured in Roofing Magazine

Highland Roofing Company’s work on the Toyota Welding Technology Building at Pitt Community College in Winterville, North Carolina, is featured in the September/October 2026 issue of Roofing magazine. The article, “Collegiate Roof Takes Shape,” highlights how on-site rollforming, skilled craftsmanship, and careful coordination came together on one of the more complex projects our team has completed. Highland was selected through a competitive bid to install approximately 35,000 square feet of metal roofing on the new educational facility, working alongside general contractor J.M. Thompson and JKF Architecture.

Project manager, Bill Kohaut, helped lead a crew of several roofing professionals through a demanding build that included multiple elevations, changing roof slopes, long panel runs, and transitions with windows, louvers, and architectural metal wall panels. The team installed a Construction Metal Products CMP 2500 standing-seam system, with many of the panels rollformed directly on the jobsite. They also handled significant rainfall and muddy site conditions by adjusting staging and work sequencing, while maintaining 100% tie-off requirements throughout. The finished roof is backed by a two-year Highland workmanship warranty, a 20-year CMP watertightness NDL warranty, and a 30-year paint finish warranty.

“The most rewarding part was seeing the finished project come together and knowing we helped bring such a great design to life,” said Bill Kohaut, project manager at Highland Roofing. “We’re proud of the quality of the finished roof and the work our team put in to make sure it was done right.” Congratulations to Bill and the entire crew on a project that shows what strong communication and coordination can deliver.
